Phoenix-area boy collects toy, book donations for children’s hospital on his birthday

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — One Valley boy is a perfect example of the saying, it’s better to give than receive.

Asher Vogt is using his own birthday to bring smiles to sick kids at Banner Children’s Hospital.

Asher was born prematurely at 29 weeks and spent about eight months in the Banner NICU and about three months in the pediatric intensive care unit.

So now every year to celebrate his birthday, he does Something Good and collects toys, stuffed animals and books for other kids who are staying at the hospital.

This year to celebrate turning 8 years old, Asher helped collect 400 books, stuffed animals and toys for kids at Banner Children’s at Desert in Mesa.

The nursing staff says they’re extremely grateful for the generous gifts for their little patients.

So thank you to Asher and all of Asher’s family and friends who help collect these donations for kids in need, and thank you to all of our wonderful nurses and doctors for taking care of all the babies and kids.
