Marines substitute for shopping carts as kids dash through world’s largest selection of Crayola products at Crayola Experience Easton
EASTON, Pa. (Nov. 19, 2024) – Holiday decorations are coming out of boxes. Holiday music is hitting the airwaves. And three area kids got a jump start on celebrating the holiday spirit today with Crayola Experience Easton’s “64 Seconds of Color” shopping spree.
With a splash of red, green and all the other colors of the rainbow, 8-year-old Ada McGinnis (Bethlehem, Pa.), 10-year-old Jocelyn Henry (Allentown, Pa.), and 12-year-old Max Hoernlein (Phillipsburg, N.J.) experienced the world’s most colorful shopping spree for an early holiday treat. Their shopping extravaganza, with assistance from the U.S. Marines, is also helping to bring the magic of the holidays and Crayola to less fortunate children.
The kids had 74 seconds to dash through the world’s largest selection of Crayola products at The Crayola Store and grab as much product as possible. In recognition of the 10th anniversary of this holiday tradition at Crayola Experience Easton, the usual 64-second spree—a nod to Crayola’s iconic box of 64—was extend by 10 seconds.
Helping Jocelyn, Ada, and Max by acting as their “shopping carts” were SSgt Edward Aguirre, Sgt Charles Lusk, and Cpl Edwin Milanes. At the end of the 74-second dash, the children were able to keep all the product they collected with their Marine teammate. Crayola Experience—the family attraction with more than 25 hands-on activities in downtown Easton, Pa.—then matched the collected toys and donated them to the Marines’ Toys for Tots chapter for Lehigh and Northampton counties.
Spreading extra colorful holiday cheer, kid shopper Max decided he was going to donate his haul to students with disabilities in his school, Phillipsburg Middle School.
The “64 Seconds of Color” holiday event is an annual tradition for the brand. Jocelyn, Ada, and Max were randomly selected for the shopping spree after entering a raffle.
